The short version
The Kitchen Atlas apps collect nothing about you. They have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and they do not send anything anywhere. This is not a promise about how carefully we handle your data — there is no data to handle.
Everything below is a description of software you can verify.
The apps
No network access. The Android app declares no permissions at all, not even internet access. The iOS app’s privacy manifest declares no tracking, no tracking domains and no collected data types. Neither app can send information about you, because neither app talks to a server.
What is stored, and where. Your favourites, your place in a recipe’s steps,
your shopping-list ticks and your diet filter are saved on your own device
(UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). They never leave it, we
cannot see them, and deleting the app deletes them.
Recipes and photos are inside the app when you install it. Nothing is downloaded as you browse, which is also why the app works with no connection at all.
Amazon links
Recipes offer a shopping link for ingredients. Tapping one opens Amazon in your browser — the app builds a search address and hands it over; it does not contact Amazon itself.
From that point you are on Amazon’s website and Amazon’s privacy policy applies, not this one. The links carry our Amazon Associates tag, so we may earn a small commission if you buy something. That costs you nothing and does not change what you pay.
This website
No analytics, no tracking cookies, no third-party scripts. We do not know who visits or what they read.
A cookie is set only if someone signs in to the administration area, which is us, not you. Our server keeps ordinary web logs — including IP addresses — for a short time, to keep the site running and secure. Those logs are not used to build any profile.
Test builds
If you are testing a pre-release app through TestFlight or Firebase App Distribution, then Apple or Google handles your invitation, your email address and crash and usage data for that build under their own terms. That is a property of those services, not of the app: the app still collects nothing.
The Kindle edition
The cookbook is sold through Amazon. Your purchase is between you and Amazon under their privacy policy. We receive sales reports, which do not identify individual readers.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask what personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing, or complain to a supervisory authority. In practice the answer is usually that we hold none, but ask and we will tell you.
