History & Origin
Bobotie is a Cape dish shaped by the layered history of Dutch colonial kitchens, enslaved and exiled people from Southeast Asia, and Cape Malay spice traditions. Spiced minced meat is baked beneath a savoury egg custard and usually served with yellow rice, chutney and sambals.
